Wednesday 29th January 2014
After all the research, designing and planning we were now at the most fun and the best part of the process; create stage. This is the stage that we are going to actually make the product that we had been preparing for, which time round is a storage device. Our plan stage was due yesterday, although last lesson we had been given time to rectify our mistakes in our plan stage and correct them. I had no mistakes but just some things that I had to add on my exploded design. So today, was the first day of my create stage according to my plan. I really want to work according to the plan so that I don't remain behind or do not over work myself therefore today I had to get my materials. I had organized to bring wood from home however since I found Plywood in school; I decided not to waste the wood I have. I found a really large free piece of wood which I found in the store. Although this was turning out to be a very difficult task since there were sharp nails attached to the wood. Therefore, I had to remove the nails with a hammer which took me almost half of the lesson which I managed with the help of my friend Paul. It was a challenge removing the nails since it spoilt some parts of the wood and some nails were very hard to remove. I overcame these challenges by seeking help of my friend and utilizing many tools.

After I was done with the wood, with still 25 minutes left, I moved on to drawing the compartments of the rack on my wood. I used my design from design stage to do so. I had to be very accurate and always had to check every time whether my measurements are correct.

With that done, since I wanted to make the most of this lesson, I gave my wood to Mr. Wafula to cut it out for me using the circular saw which I apparently don't know how to use. I really got annoyed with the sound of the circular saw. As usual there was quite a long queue for the circular saw. I also wore a coat during the lesson, to avoid myself getting dirty as there was a lot of dust. At the end of the class, I managed to get my materials, draw the parts of my rack, and also cut out my compartments. This showed great progress and means that I now have more time to cut out the other parts and have more time for the other tasks. I now learn t why it was important to go through the investigate, design and plan stage as it makes the create stage way easier and straight forward. Today I learn't and developed many skills namely: time management skills, nail removing skills, measuring skills, drawing skills and many more. I want to improve on being more independent and seeking less help from my peers. Next lesson, I hope to continue to cut my materials.
