It was another stressful day of the
create stage. According to the plan, it mentions that I was supposed to be
working on; draw/ sketch
the parts of the rack on my wood. However, since I had completed this task, I
continued to cut the materials. Using the jigsaw this time, I further divided
my wood into the three compartments and separated/ cut them out. Though my
cutting wasn't straight and was very rough since I was pretty much in a hurry
as my they were people who behind in the line giving pressure to do faster. It
was also a lot of effort and patience taken for waiting in line for the jigsaw.
Since I wanted to continue working, I came to the d.t lab from 4 - 4:30 in the
afternoon whereby a cut my compartments more smoothly from the sides and also
used a planer to level the sides and make it smooth since the sander is not
available.I was glad and ecstatic with the pace of which I am working at and
hopefully I will be able to finish the product on time.
The
challenges that I faced was that there was a a lot of time wasted whilst
standing in the queue waiting for my turn and secondly there was usually a
lot of pressure from my peers that were in line forcing me to hurry up. I
overcame these challenges by finding a suitable time which was home time, to
come work peacefully and continue with my work. What I want to improve on in
the coming lessons is to work at my own pace and work calmly and with no stress
or pressure from my peers as I also have a right like all of them to utilize
the tools in the d.t lab and might also lead to injuries if I rush too much. I
managed to utilize some of my skills today namely patience skills, time-management
and organizational skills, wood cutting skills and sanding skills. What I
didn't like about this lesson was that people often took a lot of time cutting
their materials which sometimes really irritated me and some also skipped the
line that sometimes got be angry. However, in general I am pleased that I am
more or less working along with the plan and I am excited to continue making my
product.
