Tuesday 11th February 2014

In today's lesson, not a lot could be done since my peers were not kind enough and were mean to share he jigsaw. Indeed one person used one of the jigsaw's for the whole lesson! I tried using other items such as a
a handsaw and a coping saw which was really tiring and difficult although it cut very neatly and accurately. Unfortunately, one of the jigsaw got spoilt meaning we were left with only one. Another thing that really made me erupt, was when other people send other people to squeeze in the line and cut for other people who sent orders making us look like dumb people waiting in the queue. By the end of the lesson, I managed to do nothing on the progress of my rack, however I manged to get tips and advice from my friends on ideas or things that I may add on my rack and also had a quick glance of other peoples work and helped learn many things from them especially about their mistakes which made me aware of things that I should prevent, take care of and try avoid. This include accurate measurements, joints should be strong, wood should not be too thin or too short etc. This will help me be aware of such things and will really help me when making the joints.

The challenges that I faced today was; working with tools such as hand saw and coping saw that was really
strenuous and the fact that only one jigsaw working. I overcame this challenge by doing something else instead of wasting my time which was going around and observing other peoples work which allowed me to reflect and released a bit of my tension and stress. It was a good learning experience today helping me to understand how to use the tools around us when other things are not available. Today, there was also a lot of dust which I tried to avoid since I have sinus. What I could improve on, is being more aggressive in terms of using the lab equipment with others wanting it. When I reached home, I asked my dad to bring thick wood for the pillars of the rack, in which I gave him specific measurements. Though I was quite confused on how I will make the pillars for the rack therefore I had a quick glance at my mums old fruit rack which kind of gave me an idea on how to go about this.
