Thursday 6th February 2014

Today was the third appointed day to cut out my materials meaning two days left. By the end of the lesson I was able to ; cut out my third compartment, cut out the edges of the compartments and draw the barriers of the third compartment. I had done quite a lot at the end of the lesson but gradually I realized that I was tending to remain behind and was more or less doing tasks that were suppose to have been done before time such as drawing and measuring the barriers. I must keep in mind that the mid-term is coming + less time to work on my project which I don't think was taken into consideration in my plan. In addition, today we also took turns which allowed us to share the jigsaw and equally have a chance to progress on our work. The challenges that I had today were; lack of organization since I was not prepared with the equipment that I wanted to cut out such as the stands and more or less time-management since I had to really plan my work in a way that I would not be wasting time such as if i was cutting my barriers and then it was someone else turn, I would take that barrier and start making it smooth or level it etc. lastly, there was a lack of tools in the d.t lab since most of the people were using the same tool hence there would be arguments and conflicts over tools.

Apart from all the things mentioned above, I realized that I SHOULD spare some extra time at home time or over the weekends to come and wok on my rack when there are less people. Second;y, I also need to improve on sticking to one task because normally I start with a task an end up working on another task leaving something halfway. Despite all this, I am proud to learn and use my skills in making the fruit/vegetable rack namely; wood-cutting, drawing, measuring, self management and decision making skills. On an overall point of view of today's lesson, I am satisfied though I am not happy with the progress so far. Next lesson, I hope to finish with the barriers and only stick to this task.
