Tuesday 4th February 2014
It was the third lesson working on our storage devices which was one of the worst so far although was a good learning experience. Today, there were problems with the electricity since there was power fluctuation. Therefore none of the tools were available which really made me upset since I had a lot of plans for today's lesson which included cutting out the barriers of the compartment. Since I wanted to get on with making my rack, I tried to use the other tools that wouldn't require electricity such as a hammer and a Flat screw driver. I tried using this to cut out the sides of my compartment, which some had still not yet been cut out. It kind of worked out well in some cases though it needed a lot of effort and time. Unfortunately the outcome was bad spoiling the surface of one of my pieces. This got me really annoyed as finding another same piece like that one would be very difficult, and luckily I was able to a part of someone’s wood. I didn't throw away the piece that hat got spoilt so that it can be useful for other times.

Finally, the power was back 3/4 past the lesson, whereby everyone rushed to use the jigsaw and other tools. I decided with my friend Yavan to take turns on the jigsaw so that both of progress with our work and don't waste time doing nothing. After cutting out all the sides, I tried to cut out the stands of the rack although it was past time. I safely returned my wood in the store and was eager to come back at afternoon to continue to work on the rack but the timings were from 4 to 5 which I was not free at since I had an enrichment. The challenge that I faced today was working without tools. Despite this fact, today's lesson helped me appreciate the things around us and also helped me learn of how to use other things during situations when another thing is not available which made me understand such issues. The skills that I was able to develop were: problem solving skills, woodcutting skills, open-minded skills, and organizational skills. I am satisfied with the general progress that I have done with my rack though I am not that pleases with today's lesson since I was not able to do a lot.
