Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th February 2014
During these two days I went school over the mid-term break and continued working from where I had finished on Monday. I worked on straightening the pillars and other parts of my rack and later sanded. I also managed to get an idea of what I will be doing to make the joint connecting the pillars and the compartments. These days were fun because there were fewer people than usual and I was working with more peace and time. I think I did well at smoothing my parts and straightening them because at the end of it, I was able to make my parts of the rack equal from all sides and showed that they were now straight and not crooked. I also felt good when I finished sanding the parts of my rack as I did this without using a machine and smoothing my materials gave the soft and lovely texture to the parts that I really liked and was proud about.Although , I had a problem with the tools since some tools were not very effective hence it was time-wasting and a lot of effort taken. I think one of my weaknesses was poor helping skills since I was more selfish with finishing my product at some moments as I didn't help some of my peers when they would ask me or would be mean with some of the tools I had such as sand paper. I really felt bad afterwards when I reached home and reflected on what I should have and should have not done. In addition, I would like to take this in my mind and to help others next time as "sharing is caring" and also allows me to develop new ideas, learn from others and acquire more skills. I also want to get better with my time-management skills, as usually I really hurry a lot being over-conscious with time eventually ending up messing my material or part. This has already happened with the barriers as some barriers are a little shorter or a little bigger than the other due to cutting/measurement errors. Since I need plastic wheels for my rack but I can't find any, Mr.Wafula said I should try accomplishing and make sure that my rack meets all if not most of my design specs and gave me idea of what I can do. I will try find as many resources or stuff that I can recycle for making my wheels. Abror who is my colleague also pointed out that my work so far is very good and will turn out to be nice after I had explained and showed to him what my final product will look kind of look like however he stated that I should always double check my measurements and pieces before it is too late. Wednesday was the last day of working at school therefore I now have to do the rest at home using the tools and resources I have.
